Following on from our previous articles about the sponsorships of our local sports teams, we wanted to give you an update on all of the latest news and the teams’ progress in April 2023.
Pure Staff is very proud to be sponsoring local teams; the Wrens Nest U9 Girls Team, Handsworth 2XV Rugby Team and Frank Bell-Reynolds, the Boldmere Falcons U11 Football Team, and Kings Norton RUFC.
In this update, we’ll be sharing some of the highlights from the past month.
Wrens Nest Under 9’s
The Wrens Nest girls had worked hard all season long, and it paid off in the Final. Their opponents, Bournville, had been joint league leaders, but they couldn’t hold on to their lead against a determined Wrens Nest side. It was a tight game throughout, with neither team able to break the deadlock until penalties decided the outcome of the game.
When it came down to it, each team held their nerve, but ultimately, it was Wrens Nest who emerged victorious after some clinical penalty-taking. Smiles all round and the best possible end to a great season – Wrens Nest girls were champions!
Handsworth RUFC & Frank Bell Reynolds
The last game of the season was definitely one to remember! We had been struggling with numbers this season, but everyone pulled together and put in an incredible performance against Veseyans 2XV.
We managed to pull off a 45-17 victory at home and I also scored a try late in the first half.
Thanks to this fantastic result, we ended the season on a high despite our earlier struggles. It’s been tough going for us this season, so it was important that we finished the year with something positive.
Now, our sights are set on the upcoming season, and hopefully, with a good recruitment drive and some hard work from everyone involved, we can make it one to remember!
Boldmere Falcons U11
April has been a mixed month for the Falcons, with them drawing 1-1 against Hampton U11’s, beating Redditch United 4-3 and hammering Rubery Juniors 8-0 before it all came crashing back down to earth with a heavy defeat to Arden Forrest last weekend.
To be fair to the boys, this was primarily due to them missing several key players (including our goalkeeper!) for various reasons leaving us with no subs for a challenging game.
The regular season has now come to a close, but tournament season will be upon us in a few weeks, and all are hungry for silverware after a much-disrupted season at Boldmere Falcons.
